V5100 Series
L3 Workgroup Switch
The V5100
series
switches are powerful, cost-effective solutions for networks that require
L2/L3 service and full routing capabilities in a single plug and play
device. All V5100 models support switching bandwidth up to 13 Gb and
an aggregate throughput of 6.6 Mpps. With capacity for storage of 8,192
MAC address entries, the V5100 series connects to high-volume backbone
networks - making it an ideal connectivity solution for large enterprises
with multiple field locations.
The V5100
series provides stacking technology for multiple switch management via
a single IP address, and offers port mirroring for traffic monitoring.
With the convenient Setup Menu and Web-based management, the V5100 series
switches integrate simply and effectively into existing networks. All
V5100 models feature auto-negotiating ports (for traffic level optimization),
address filtering, IP multicasting (IGMP snooping), and link aggregation.
Rich L3 QoS/CoS features further enhance the capabilities of this high-performance
switch.
The V5100
series consists of the V5124 and the V5124F. The V5124 switch features
24 10/100BASE-TX auto-negotiating Ethernet ports. The V5124F switch
offers six slots for hot swappable four-port 100BASE-FX module. Both
models have an additional fixed slot for two optional ports of 10/100BASE-TX,
100BASE-FX, or GBIC SX/LX/ZX uplinks.
V5100 series
switches are the perfect solution for corporate workgroups, campus data
centers, government field offices and regional ISPs.
Benefits
Simple
Configuration and Management
Setup Menu
provides simple, step-by-step instructions for custom switch configuration.
Supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Remote Monitoring
(RMON), Web-based Management, and Command Line Interface (CLI) via console
or Telnet. Enables single IP management of up to 64 interconnected switches
using flexible, scalable port stacking. Support is available via both
FTP and TFTP for software downloads
High-speed
Performance
Delivers
up to 13 Gb through switch fabric and up to 6.6 Mpps forwarding rate
at wire speed. Supports Store and Forward switching to balance throughput
when networks are busy and multiple packets are directed to the same
port at the same time. Offers up to six units of 8-port aggregation
to enhance fault tolerance and bandwidth while reducing network traffic.
Supports IGMP snooping to limit multicast traffic.
Traffic
Control
Supports
IEEE 802.3x flow control mechanism, preventing packet loss by sending
a frame back to the source in full duplex mode.
MAC
Address Management
Supports
up to maximum 8,192 MAC address entries in the address table. Supports
automatic on-demand address aging on a per-port basis. Allows frame
filtering based on MAC address. Restricts the use of a switch port to
a limited number of source addresses through MAC-based port-level handling
Switch
Stacking
Supports
switch stacking to address scalability requirements while allowing a
single IP management (point of access) to configure, manage and monitor
the entire stack.
Virtual
LANs (VLANs)
Enables
packets to be forwarded only between ports belonging to the same VLAN
containing its own set of ports to restrict access from one segment
to another. Supports up to 256 tagged VLANs defined in the IEEE 802.1Q
standard. Supports IEEE 802.1d Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) per VLAN.
Port
Analysis
Port mirroring
allows for real time management. Supports Remote Monitoring (RMON) I
and RMON II MIB.
Routing
Offers
RIP v1/v2, OSPF v2, BGP v4 routing protocols.
Transmission
Rate Control
Each port
can allocate bandwidth per user, per port (10/100 BASE-TX: 1M/step,
Gigaport: 8M/step).
Quality
of Service (QoS)
Users
can set allowable delay time according to packet attribution. High-priority
packets are transmitted through the QoS function.
