VERTEX
7012 Series
High Density Modular Router
The
VERTEX 7012 is
an edge service router that enables Internet service providers (ISPs)
and other service providers to deploy IP services across large number
of leased-line connections. The router aggregates E1/T1, and DS3 leased
lines, enables processor-intensive applications, and still satisfies
the performance and cost structure requirements of today's Internet
market.
Specially
optimized for central office deployments, the VERTEX 7012 edge service
router provides individual subscribers with access to the network without
compromising consistent network performance, as new subscribers are
brought onto the networks. For value-added services, the VERTEX 7012
supports network security such as virtual private networks (VPNs), and
packet filtering to prevent unauthorized users from accessing information
The
VERTEX 7012 features redundant components required for use in aggregation
applications. Dual redundant power supplies and hot-swappable modules
ensure high availability for subscriber services. If the primary routing
processor fails, the secondary routing processor will automatically
take over chassis operation. This robust platform also supports eleven
slots that can be filled with interface modules of various types for
access to subscribers, including two-port T3, eight-port E1/T1, OC-3/OC-12
POS, and Gigabit Ethernet as well as Ethernet.
Scalability
Provide
backplane bandwidth up to 11Gbps to meet increased customer demand for
data, voice, and video transmission
Allow users to build out their own central office using the E1/T1, DS3,
and OC-12/OC-3 POS interface modules without compromising performance.
High Availability
Feature
hot swappable interface and routing processor modules to meet the most
stringent ISP requirements for product availability.
Provide redundant power distribution, accommodating failure of internal
power supplies, with no disruption to the operation of the router.
Allow a second routing processor for redundancy to backup for the element
that provides the packet processing and forwarding capabilities for
the product
Network Security
Offer packet
filtering and user authentication (PAP/CHAP) capabilities to protect
users from unauthorized access.
IPSec Encryption
Enable
creation of VPNs by providing industry-standard data privacy, and authenticity
as data traverses the Internet.
Simple Management
Enable
simple configuration or monitoring of each interface processor with
little technical involvement via command line interface DSH.
Support easy-to-use SNMP management, and telnet to configure, manage,
and monitor the system at a remote site.
